Ian was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, and grew up in Claymont, Delaware. In 1997, he enlisted in the United States Army. His time in the service allowed him the opportunity to gain global hands-on experience and be a part of an advanced team. As part of his service, he has deployed in support of the Joint Task Force (JTF) 6 Counter Drug Trafficking Operations mission along the U.S. and Mexico border, and Operation Desert Spring in Camp Doha, Kuwait in 1999.

From December 31, 1998, through March 18, 2003, the U.S. military maintained a presence in Kuwait as part of Operation Desert Spring. This mission provided control and force protection for the military of Kuwait following the First Gulf War (Operation Desert Storm and Operation Desert Shield). Those who participated in this mission are entitled to receive the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

Operation Desert Spring also helped improve the combat readiness of U.S. forces and prepared them for their roles in the next phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom, which began on March 20, 2003. The operation was conducted by US Army Central (USARCENT) and U.S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command (MARFOREUR).

In 2006, Ian became a Signal Warrant Officer and served as the Senior Network Manager for all Army networks on the mainland of Honshu, Japan. In 2010, he deployed in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and has been assigned to highly technical, career-broadening, and executive-level assignments throughout his 25 years of military service.

As an expert in IT solutions, Dr. Ian Wilkinson combined the traditional corporate model, independent contracting model, and industry partnerships to provide on-demand virtual CIO services for organizations to persevere in complex, competitive, and highly regulated government and commercial information technology industries.

Dr. Wilkinson earned both a Bachelor’s in Computer Studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus and a Master’s in Information Technology Management from Webster University. He also earned a Doctorate in Information Technology from Walden University.

He is the Director of Corporate Outreach for the Alamo Chapter of the Project Management Institute, a Harvard Kennedy School Senior Executive Fellow, a National Cyberwatch Center Fellow, an Executive Leadership Mentor for the National Society of Leadership and Success, a member of Iota Phi Theta Incorporated, and serves on the peer-review panel for the Cybersecurity Skills Journal.

Ian is also an active member of multiple IT and business organizations and holds several active industries certifications with ISC2, ISACA, PMI Institute, AXELOS, GIAC, Cisco, and CompTIA.

For a small business, having the knowledge and expertise to determine how best to leverage technology can be difficult. More importantly, it can be costly. To achieve the same results as a larger scale enterprise, a small business must find ways to maximize their budget and resources. This is where Cyber Ballet’s IT solutions come in: providing affordable, scalable, accessible IT training that can help any business maximize their return on investment.
